Gamma Phi Beta was the first sorority to be called a ‘sorority’. While many other sororities were originally incorporated as ‘fraternities’, they changed the trend.
With ‘Connect. Impact. Shine.’ as their brand, Gamma Phi Beta supports camping as their main philanthropic mission. With this non-stereotypical philanthropic and community involvement from a college sorority, they support this activity that can be tailored to meet the needs of specific at-risk children or to deal with specific issues individual groups may encounter. Camping is also local and can be supported within communities. It supports the ideals of Gamma Phi Beta by building strong friendships that strengthen the individual.
Delta Zeta, founded in Ohio in 1902, comes from Miami University which is often referred to as the “Mother of Fraternities” because so many prominent men’s fraternities found their roots at Miami. The founding women just received full status as students at Miami University when they formed the sorority.
Following their roots, Delta Zeta seeks to be enriching to themselves with their pursuit of knowledge and excellence, to their sisterhood with friendship and support and to the world around them through service.
Supporting hearing and speech impaired programs is the main outreach for Delta Zeta.
